Your Committee on Parks & Environmental Management, to which was referred
Communication No. 769, reports as follows:
Communication No. 769 is transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, dated October 8, 2002,
submitting for confirmation the appointment of Marjorie A. Erway of Council District 7
to the Hawaii County Environmental Management Commission. Ms. Erway is an 8-year
resident of Hawaii and is a retired registered nurse. Ms. Erway is currently serving as
secretary for the Big Island Yoga Center, treasurer for Plan to Protect, and does volunteer
work at the Hulihee Palace Gift Shop. In the early 1990's she served on a similar
commission in South Pasadena. She is not affiliated with any political party and, if
confirmed, will replace Peter Martin, who resigned, and will serve a term ending in
December 31, 2002.
Your Committee on Parks and Environmental Management recommends the approval of
the nomination of Marjorie A. Erway to the Hawaii County Environmental Management
Commission.
