UVHI~~~AS, the Department of ~'ublic Works' Traffic Division will commence with their West
Hawaii signs and markings operations as soon as personnel and equipment becomes available; and
OIVI°B~I~~AS, the basic workload of the Traffic Division has increased over the past 10 years by
the acceptance of dedicated roads and the increase of maintenance responsibilities of existing older
roads within the Hawaii County; and
VV9~I~R~AS, by creating this Signs and Markings Supervisor I, IF1-09 position, the current
backlog of work should decrease and the West Hawaii operations can be initiated; and
VNH~i~~AS, this position will be responsible for the supervision of two positions and the
administration requirements of the West Hawaii operations and will also assist in the overall County-
wide signs and markings maintenance operations; and
999f11°~B~~~AS, there are sufficient funds available in the Highway laund, Traffic Division, Regular
Salaries and Wages account (020-281-5281.01-011).
~H~~~AS, Article V, Section 5-1.3(c) of the Hawaii County Charter states that the Mayor has
the power to "Create positions...for which appropriations have been made by the council...".

that a Signs and Markings Supervisor I, F1-09 position be created.

January 2005.

traffic Division, regular Salaries and Wages account (020-281-5281.01-011).

of Finance, Public Works, and Civil Service.
