Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 779, reports as iollow~s:
Communication No. 779, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, dated
October 10, 2002, requests the acceptance of a donation from Mr. Hiroshi Tagami.
Mr. Hiroshi Tagami has graciously donated an Amorphophallus Titanum~ commonly referred to
as the largest flower of the world, for educational and display purposes to the Department of
Parks & Recreation for the Pana'ewa Rainforest Zoo. The value of this donation is estim~~ted at
$500.
Pursuant to Article MI1, Section 1 ~-12, Hawaii County Charter. the Council on hehali~of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
Also, pursuant to Chapter 2. Article i0. Section 2-162 (c) of the Hawaii County Code. any
donation or gift which does not fall within the capitalization procedures of the deparUncnt ol~
finance shall be submitted to the council by letter for its approval.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to Mr. Hiroshi Tagami. P.O. Box 818. Kanu~ela. Ha~~ai`i
96743, acknowledging these generous donations.
Your Committee on Finance recommends the acceptance of the Amorphophallus Titanum from
Mr. Hiroshi Tagami.
