I am deeply concerned over the dangers that my students and other teens and children face whenever they are in situations where smoking is prevalent. Smoking in public places such as restaurants, bowling alleys, business establishments and teen nightclubs places these students at great risk due to the dangers of second-hand smoke. Pregnant teens who are around smokers face the very real possibilities of delivering babies of low birth weight and genetic damage. Teen births are already at high risk for a normal delivery and healthy fetal development. Please do not continue to subject them to additional situations of danger. Please consider the passage of Bill no.260, An ordinance amending chapter 14 of the Hawaii County Code 1983, as amended, relating to Smoking in Certain Places in the County of Hawaii. Thank you for your time and consideration. Mahalo, Rae A. Yamanaka Waiakea High School GRADS (Pregnant and Parenting Teens) 974-4888 ext.236 co t1a car Comm. Noe file No.
