Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 804. reports as follows:
Communication No. 804, transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, dated Novembee 1.2002.
re-nominates Ms. Karen T. Maedo and Mr. Neil Brazier to serve on the Hawaii County fire
Commission.
Ms. Karen T. Maedo of Council District , is a lifetime resident of Hawaii. Of no political party
affiliation, she will serve a term to end December 31, 2007.
Mr. Neil Brazier of Council District 5 is a 34-year resident of Hayyai`i. Of no political part}~
affiliation, he will serve a terns to end December 31, 2007.
Both of these individuals have demonstrated integrity, diligence. and competence during their
service on this commission.
Pursuant to Article VI, Chapter 4, Section 6-4.5, Hawaii (`ounty Charter, there shall be a fire
commission, which shall consist of nine members...appointed by the mayor and confirmed by
the council in the manner prescribed in Section 1 ~-4.
Article XIII. Chapter 2. Section 13-4(c), Hawai`i County Charter, states that members of any
board or commission initially appointed for a term of one year and two years shall he eligible to
succeed themselves for an additional term.
Votes for the re-appointment for Ms. Karen T. Maedo. AYES: Council Members Elarionol~f.
,lacobson. Leithead-Todd. Pisicchio, Tyler and Committee Chair Chung - 6; NOES: None.
ABSENT & EXCUSED: Council Members Arakaki, Safarik. Yagong -
Votes for the re-appointment for Mr. Neil Brazier. AYES: Council Members Arakaki,
Elarionoff, .lacobson. Leithead-Todd, Pisicchio, Tyler, Yagong and Committee Chair Chung - 8:
NOES: None, ABSENT & EXCUSED: Council Member Safarik - 1.

Ms. Karen T. Maedo and Mr. Neil Brazier to the Hawaii County Fire Commission to ser~~e a
term ending December 31, 2007.
