Your Committee on Finance. to which was referred Communication No. 809, reports as follows:
Communication No. 809, transmitted by Director of Finance William Takaba, dated
November 4, 2002, requests approval to accept donations from the Na`alehu Main Street and
Pat M. Aeder.
The Na`alehu Main Street has graciously donated four computers to the Department of Parks &
Recreation, for public use at Na`alehu Nutrition Center. The value of this donation is estimated
at $1,400.00.
Pat M. Aeder has graciously donated $30.00 to the Department of Parks & Recreation Kona
Community Aquatic Center, to cover electricity expenses.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of personal property.
Also, pursuant to Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162 (c), of the Hawaii County Code, any
donation or gift which does not fall within the capitalization procedures of the department of
finance shall be submitted to the council by letter for its approval.
A letter of appreciation will be sent to the Na`alehu Main Street, Marge Elwell, President, P.O.
I3ox 107, Na`alehu, Hawaii 96772 and Pat M. Aeder, 73-1501 La`akea Street, Kailua-Kona,
Hawaii 96740, acknowledging these generous donations.
Your Committee on Finance recommends the acceptance of the four computers from the
Na`alehu Main Street and $30.00 donation from Pat M. Aeder.
