RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN
AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF HAWAII, HAWAII COMMUNITY COLLEGE
FOR ITS RURAL DEVELOPMENT PROJECT TO SUPPORT THE HAWAII COUNTY
RESOURCE CENTER
WHEREAS, the Hawaii Community College wishes to enter into a Memorandum of
Understanding with the County of Hawaii for the support of the Hawaii County Resource Center; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii Community College Rural Development Project receives Federal
funding for its program and one of its goals is to empower rural communities to access and acquire
leadership skills and to develop community capacity building by identifying training and support for
economic and business development; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Resource Center, established within the Department of
Research and Development, will provide technical support and assistance for County agencies and
community based organizations in the area of grant writing; and
WHEREAS, the Rural Development Project will provide materials, supplies, equipment and
technical support, as recommended by the County of Hawaii Department of Research and
Development, to support the Hawaii County Resource Center; and
WHEREAS, Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that county departments obtain
the consent of the council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting
action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend, and receive any
funds or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those
powers.

that the Office of the Mayor is authorized to enter into an Agreement with the State of Hawaii, Hawaii
Community College.
i~' El1RTi~~I~ R~SO~VI~D that the Mayor of the County of Hawaii is authorized to sign the
abovesreferenced agreement and any related documents on behalf of the Office of the Mayor and the
County of Hawaii pursuant to the Hawaii County Charter.
E I~ ~U~TI°t~I~ ~ESO!„VED that the County Clerk of the County of Hawaii shat! transmit
copies of this resolution to the Office of the Mayor, the Finance and Research and Development
Departments, and to the Hawaii Community College.
