RESOLUTION NO. 24 03
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN
AGREEMENT WITH THE STATE OF HAWAII DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION, PURSUANT TO HRS 46-7, FOR A PROJECT IMPACT GRANT
WHEREAS, the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation, Public Affairs Office -Safe
Community Program has authorized funding towards the Hawaii County Police Department's Project
IMPACT Program; and
WHEREAS, this grant will be used to purchase equipment and supplies to educate the
community on the IMPACT (Incorporating Measures to Prevent Alcohol Consumption by Teens)
program; and
WHEREAS, the purpose of the IMPACT program is to reduce alcohol consumption by youths
and to increase awareness by parents, youths, and the community; and
WHEREAS, the funds provided by the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation are
derived from grants provided by the federal government; and
WHEREAS, Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that county departments obtain
the consent of the council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting
action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend, and receive any
funds or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those
powers.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII
that the Office of the Mayor is authorized to enter into an Agreement for a Grant Contract with the
State of Hawaii Department of Transportation.

above-referenced agreement and any related documents on behalf of the Office of the Mayor and the
County of Hawaii pursuant to the Hawaii County Charter.
iT F~i~THEi~ i~~~C~~VED that the County Clerk of the County of Hawaii shall transmit
copies of this resolution to the Office of the Mayor, the Finance and Police Departments, and the
State of r-lawai`i Department of Transportation.
