Arakaki and Members of the County Council County of Hawaii Milo, HI 86720 Dear Chairman Arakaki and Council Members: It is my pleasure to nominate the following individuals to the County of I-lawaii Kailua Village Design Commission. C®uncil Diist~ict 7 ~ Mils. Kathleen J. 1~IcMillen is an 11-year resident of Hawaii, and is the Office Admininstrator for KKM Survey. She has served on the Keahole Airport Arts Committee. Her background in construction and design will enhance this commission's mission. Ms. McMillen stafies that she is a member of the Democratic Party. If confirmed, she wiii serve a term to end on December 31, 2006. C®u~c'sl Diistrlct ~ ~ llilr. Milfon K. Morinaga is a 30-year resident of Hawaii, and is the Construction Manager of VVB Kukio Resorts. He is also a member of the Hui Laulima o Kekahakai and the Kohala Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Morinaga states that he is not affiliated with any politics! party. If confirmed, he wilB serve a term to end on December 31, 2006. C®uncll ~3istrict ~ ~ llrlls, IVlargo ~lliopoulos is a 24-year resident of Hawaii and is an officer with Sluewater Cuisine Catering, Inc. She has served as chair for the Kona Coffee Festival and Chdfs de Cuisine Kohala Chapter, and is a member of the Kona Chamber of Commerce. Ms. Elliopeulos states that she is not affiliated with any political party. If confirmed, she will serve a term to end on December 31, 2006. C®uncil district 7 ~ Ms, llilaile IV9elrose is a lifelong resident of Hawaii, and is a part-time teacher at Vllairnea School. Ms. Melrose served as .past president of the Hawaii Library Commis-:ion, the Kahnu C3uild, the ~/Vaimea School PTSA and the Friends of Thelma Parker Library. She states that she is not affiliated with any political party. Arakaki and Members of the County Council Page 2 November 7, 2002 Council District 8 - Mr. George Iwasaki is a 48-year resident of Hawaii and aself- employed architect with George Iwasaki Architect and Associates. Mr. Iwasaki is a member of the Kona/Kohala Chamber of Commerce and the Honolulu and National Chapters of the American Institute of Architects. He also was a member of the Kailua- Kona Exchange Club. Mr. Iwasaki is a member of the Democratic Party, and if confirmed, will serve a term to end on December 31, 2007. Council District 7 - Mr. William E. Cowell is a lifelong resident of Hawaii. Mr. Cowell is a self-employed Excavation Contractor with West Hawaii Excavation, and is a self- employed coffee farmer with Kowali Farm. He is the chair for Tropical Reforestation and Ecosystems Education Center, and the Kona Soil and Water Conservation District. He has served as past chair for the Kona Coffee Council and the Hawaii Coffee Growers Association. He also served as past commander for American Legion Post 20. Mr. Cowell states that he is not affiliated with any political party. If confirmed, he will serve a term to end on December 31, 2007. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. Pursuant to Section 1(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of Hawaii, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be waived from the Committee on Planning to the full Council for immediate action. In reviewing this matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that approval is I,rcanted and the matter placed onto the next Council agenda for review. However, in the event this request is denied, for whatever reason, I understand the matter shall be referred to the Committee on Planning for placement on its future agenda.
