Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating the $4,000 into a PMVI equipment account. Mahuna Hawaii County Police Department 349 Kapiolani Street Hilo, Hawaii 968720-2998 Dear Chief Mahuna: On April 17, 2001 the DOT received from the Hawaii County Police Department a request for approval to purchase equipment for the Periodic Motor Vehicle Inspection (PMVI) program in Hawaii County. Although approval was given, the approval came so late in the fiscal year that the purchases were not accomplished. The purpose of this letter is to give you approval for the following purchases so that another attempt can be made to obtain the equipment for the PMVI program. PMVI Kona Office: Total 2 Mobile Card Files @ $37.50 $ 75 1 Personal Computer Systems @ $1,500 each $1,500 1 HP Laserjet 1100 Series Printers @ $500 each $ 500 1 Internet Service Provider Subscription @ $25/month $ 300 PMVI Hilo Office: 1 Personal Computer Systems @ $1,500 each $1,500 1 HP Laserjet 1100 Series Printers @ $500 each $ 500 1 Internet Service Provider Subscription @ $25/month $ 300 Total Cost: $4,675 Since this letter is a supplemental approval to the normal PMVI budget, the authority to spend from the normal budget is hereby modified upward to accommodate these purchases. These costs may be deducted from the vehicle weight tax funds sent to the State in the same manner as the other PMVI costs.
