OPPOSING PROPOSED BREWER WASTE-TO-ENERGY PLANT
IN PEPEEKEO ON THE EAST SIDE OF THE $IG ISLAND OF HAWAII
We, the undersigned residents of East Hawaii, oppose the proposed construction of awaste-to-energy
plant (trash incinerator) in Pepeekeo by Brewer Environmental Industries.
We have environmental and economic concerns regarding the tonic emissions of this technobgy.
We believe that, whatever aiternative is chosen by the County Council to replace the existing landfill, it
should be located where most of the trash is located (Hilo-Puna area). The unnecessary trucking of 250
tons of trash per day along the Hilo Bayfront and the Hamakua Highway would create a useless nuisance
of noise, odor, and exhaust pollution for the Hilo and Hamakua communities, and a waste of tax dollars.
