Dear Chairman Arakaki and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to inform you that I have appointed the following individuals to
the County of Hawaii Committee on the Status of Women:
Council District 9 - Ms. Deborah A. Davis is being re-appointed as she has
demonstrated integrity, diligence and competence during her time on this
committee. She will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2006.
Council District 5 - Ms. Paradise Newland is a 12-year resident of Hawaii.
Ms. Newland is self-employed and is very active in community service. Among
some of her community activities are the founding of Planet Puna, and she is a
board member of Na Po'eho'a Aina, Hands Helping Puna, and the Bay Clinic-
Healthy Intentions. She is not affilliated with any political party and will replace
Ms. Alissa Alcosiba who has resigned. She will serve a term to expire on
December 31, 2006.
