Re: Capital Budget
Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance adding the Fire Administration Facility project for
$2,500,000 to the Capital Budget. This project includes the site acquisition of the Sun Sun
Lau property and the design and construction of amulti-function administration and
support complex for Hawaii County Fire Department Administrative Services, Training and
Dispatch operations. Presently, these offices are dispersed and in the tsunami inundation
zone and a training facility has never been provided.

A. REQUEST:
Prepare an ordinance to appropriate funds in the amount of $2,500,000 for the acquisition of the "Sun Sun
Lau" property in Hilo. Funds to be provided by bonds to be issued.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The building and property will be used for the Hawaii County Fire Department Administrative Services,
Training and Dispatch operations. Presently, offices are dispersed and in tsunami inundation zone. A
training facility has never been provided.
