Dear Chairman Arakaki and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate the following individuals to the County of Hawaii Board of
Ethics:
Council District 3 - Mr Kerry Inouye is a lifelong resident of Hawaii. He is currently
retired from the State of Hawaii Department of Transportation, Airports Division, where
he last served as Fire Chief. Mr. Inouye states that he is not affiliated with any political
party, and if confirmed, will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2007.
Council District 8 - Mr. Joel Gimpel is a 7-year resident of Hawaii. He is a retired
attorney and last served as Associate General Counsel with the Blue Cross and Blue
Shield Association. Mr. Gimpel currently serves as chair for the County of Hawaii Cost
of Government Association. He has served in various capacities with the Aloha
Performing Arts Center, and is currently a trustee and secretary for the Kona Beta
Shalom Congregation. Mr. Gimpel states that he is not affiliated with any political party.
If confirmed, he will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2005, replacing
Ms. Keolalani Hanoa, who has resigned.
