Dear Chairman Arakaki and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate the following individuals to the County of Hawaii Water
Board:
Council District 3 - Mr. Leonard Tanaka is lifelong resident of Hawaii. He is a
self-employed electrical contractor. Mr. Tanaka serves as a Bishop for the Ainaloa Ward
of the Latter Day Saints Church. He is a current member and former board member of
the Hawaii Island Contractors Association. Mr. Tanaka also has served as the chair for
the County of Hawaii Planning Commission. He states that he is not affiliated with any
political party. If confirmed, he will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2007.
Council District 6 - Mr. Loren Heck is a 14-year resident of Hawaii. He is the owner of
New Fields Nursery and Protea Farm. Mr. Heck currently serves as president of the
H.O.V.E. Road Corp., treasurer of Ocean View Development Corp., and vice-president
of the Ocean View Garden Club. He is a current member and former president of the
Hawaii Ocean View Community Association and is a current member of the
Neighborhood Watch Patrol. Mr. Heck states that he is not affiliated with any political
party. If confirmed, he will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2007.
