Dear Chairman Arakaki and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate the following individuals to the County of Hawaii
Salary Commission:
Council District 1 - Mr. Tsukasa Ishii is a lifelong resident of Hawaii. Mr. Ishii is
a retired Postmaster from the U.S. Postal Service. He currently serves as a
director for the Hamakua Community Federal Credit Union and is a moderator for
the Hilo Coast United Church of Christ. He is also a member of the Akaka Falls
Lions Club. Mr. Ishii states that he is not affiliated with any political party and if
confirmed, will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2006.
Council District 6 - Mr. Richard P. Rego is a lifelong resident of Hawaii and is
self-employed in the construction industry. Mr. Rego currently serves on the
Cost of Government Commission. He also serves on the Volcano Community
Board, the Cooper Center Council, the Volcano Volunteer Fire Department and
serves as a director on the Board of the Hawaii Island Contractor's Association.
Mr. Rego states that he is not affiliated with any political party and if confirmed,
will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2007.
Council District 7 - Mr Paul W. Mann is a 16-year resident of Hawaii and is
currently aself-employed restauranteur. Mr. Mann has served as president for
both County and State Hawaii Restaurant Associations. He is also on the Big
Island BUG Council and the Advisory Council for the Kona Community College
Culinary Arts. Mr. Mann states that he is a member of the Democratic Party and
if confirmed, will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2007. Comm. No.
