SUBJECT: Legislative Auditor's Office Services: 2003 Legislative Session
L REPOSITORY SERVICE. The Legislative Auditor's Office serves as a repository for all
state legislative bills, resolutions, and committee reports. These items are received and tiled
in our library by senate and house in numerical order on the let[ wall of the library as you
enter. We will he the only county office that will have a complete set of bills, resolutions.
and reports.
Ifyou have access to the interne[, you can search for legislative documents by visiting the
state legislative website at htfn:~~~~~aw.can(r~1.haHa;i.CO~/. Ifyou don't have access to the Internet,
you and your aides arc welcome to make a copy in our library or you may request a copy by
calling extension 8387. (Please see attached Legislative Auditor's Office Service Policy tier
County agencies.)
2. SCREENING SERVICE. The Legislative Auditor's Office will establish an on-going list of
bills having potential significant county impact. An updated list will be forwarded to you
ti'om time to time as information is made available. Please let Walter Lida or me know if you
would like us to track or monitor a bill on the list. ?f a measure is scheduled for hearing, we
can notify you of the hearing date and time.
3. TRACKING HEARING NOTICES. Walter will be downloading senate and house
Committee hearing notices daily. These notices will be filed in a black binder in our library.
These notices will be posted on the state website, but you and your aides are also welcome to
review the binder at any time.
4. SUBMITTING TESTIMONY. If you wish to provide written or oral testimony on a bill at
a Committee hearing, a timely request can be made to our Office. Since a legislative
assistant will be working on this assignment, any support information you can provide on
your position would he helpful. To help us keep track of testimonies, we are requesting that
copies of testimonies, whether written or oral, be forwarded to our office. We will keep a the
of all legislative testimonies, including testimonies presented by the Administration.

5. LEGISLATIVE AUDITOR'S OFFICE: LEGISLATNE SERVICE POLICY
a. Please see Valerie Victorine, Barbara Ward, or Walter fida before accessing
repository.
b. Any County employee may search for and copy a billiresolutionheport from the
Legislative Auditor's Office library.
c. You are encouraged to make copies using the copy machine in the LA library or by
submitting ii to the Machine Room. Alternatively, requests made to the LA's Office
to copy or fax a bilVresolution/report will be honored as time and work allows.
d. If you are copying a large quantity (i.e. >25 pieces), we recommend you use the
Machine Roum.
e. 8ecuusc others may also be interested in the billfresolution/report, we ask that you
afford them Uie courtesy of a quick return,
f. As a reminder, there is a charge when making copies for the public.
