Re: Resolution for amulti-year lease
Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the Hawaii County Fire Department to enter into a
multi-year lease for office space for the Na'alehu EMS ambulance unit. Their current
lease will expire on March 1, 2003.

A. REQUEST:
Prepare a resolution to allow the encumberance of funds of a future year.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The Fire Department presently leases a house in Naalehu where an EMS ambulance unit is based. The
lease for this house expires March 1, 2003. The department needs to re-new this lease or lease another
house in the area. Alternatives are being evaluated. The cost of the present lease is $1,041.66 per month,
and the term was for 24 months.
Funds for the lease are provided through the state EMS contract, account no. 010-221-5227.42-338, Basic
EMT Training OCE -Rental of Land, Bldg. Ofc.
