Dear Curtis Tyler:
Today, it has come to my family's attention that the county has recemly approved
proposed planning for development in our neighborhood. 1t is our understanding that the
SunStone Development's plans wilt dramatically affect our neighborhood, with specific
focus on Lunapulc Road, the main street that runs directly through our residential area.
It is also very disheartening to hear that these plans were approved without a significant
amount of effort to gsther more feedback from the community Hutt would be most
affected by this development. When speaking to fetlow residents, we were distressed to
hear that we were all unaware that supposed letters were coot rou notifying families of the
proposed plans, Furthermore, that a hearing has already taken place and decisions already
made, It is unfortunate that the county did not make a significant effort to truly hear how
it's community and it's residence feel about the substantial changes that will ultimately
hamper the fatni}ies and businesses in our area.
As long time residents of this area, we have endured marry obstacles in regazds to
Lunapule Road. Through the growth ofKailua-Kona, we have always supportal
community events and celebrations such as community parades through Alii Drive and
The Bnnman Triathlon. During these wonderful events residence in this area endure
unyielding traffic, speeding, and detours that create congestion, bumper-to-bumper
traffic, and dangerous speeds through Lunapule Road. Though we continue to support
community events and development, it is our understanding that SunStone Development
will ultimately cause such a significant change in our neighborhood and road, we feel that
more effort to discuss tltc approved plan be considered.
Lastly, it is also our understanding that a 3-Way Stop and One-Way trZrffic plao lras beau
approved. This ehango is specifically our concern, Families and businesses already bear
the hardship that Lunapule Road endures, thus there needs to be more discussion, more
research, and much more feedback and response from this specific community and it's
residents.
