Thank you for applying fora 2001-2002 EMSC mini-grant. I commend you on your
initiative and for your involvement in injury prevention. It is cleaz that you recognize the
need in your community of addressing the problem of preventable soccer injuries and the
importance of your community in being vested in injury prevention efforts.
Upon review by the selection committee, your proposal has been approved with
stipulations. The committee has concerns that yow budget focuses on the purchase of
audio/video equipment. The EMSC mini-grant monies are intended for the actual
production and broad distribution of your video. Therefore, the committee recommends
investigating rental or voluntazy opportunities (see enclosed article as an example)
for your audio/visual needs.
The committee further suggests that you partner your efforts with the enclosed "Kids in
Sports" brochure. The mini-grant monies may be used to individualize the brochure for
AYSO usage, with proprietazy blessings from Dr. Linda Rosen, lead author of the
brochure. Lastly, the selection committee recommends the inclusion of information
about the appropriate use of the 911 system in your video and handouts.
I will be calling you next week to discuss your proposal and to receive your feedback on
the committee's recommendations. Again, thank you for your dedication to injury
prevention efforts for Hawaii's keiki.
