ORDINANCE NO. 1
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 2, ARTICLE 16, OF THE HAWAII
COUNTY CODE 1983 (1995 EDITION), RELATING TO TRAVEL AND OTHER
EXPENSES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. Chapter 2, article 16, section 2-96 subsection (a) Hawaii County
Code 1983 (1995 Edition), relating to Meal allowance for nonovernight, is amended to
read as follows:
Section 2-96. Meal allowance for nonovernight travel.
(a) Except as modified by subsection (b) of section 2-98, meal allowance
(including tax and tips) for nonovernight travel (not covered by collective
bargaining agreements) shall not exceed the following rates:
Breakfast $ [4.00]5.00
Lunch [5.00]8.00
Dinner [ 10.00] I S00
Breakfast will be allowed when travel time begins before 6:00 a.m. Lunch
will be allowed for travelers when travel time begins before 11:00 a.m. and
ends after 1:00 p.m. Dinner will be allowed for travelers when travel time
begius before 6:00 p.m. and ends after 8:00 p.m.
SECTION 2. Material to be repealed is bracketed. New material is underscored.
In printing this ordinance, the brackets, bracketed material and underscoring need not be
included.
SECTION 3. Tf any provision of this ordinance, or the application thereof to any
person or circumstance, is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or
applications of the ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision or
application, and to this end, the provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval.
