Dear Bobby Jean and Council members:
We are not against developmem and progress, but feel strongly that developers need to put in and
pay for infrastructure before sub divisions arc started, In lhis case specifically, in Kailua View
Estates they should put in and pay for necessary lraffie calming devices on Nani Kailua Drive--
before any homes arc occupied. The proposed project wiU have approximately 17 new residential
lots which will be accessed through Kailua View Cstatcs (Mani Kailua Drive) and Melelina Street
to the North.
Since moving to our home eight years ago, we have seen a steady increase in the number of
vehicles, due to the increased number of homes, and increasing disregard for the posted 25 MPH
speed. The roadway has bocome overburdened and is now an unsafe street for children. Nani
Kailua was never designed to carry this kind of traffic, in fact, it wasn't even designed to be
connected to Kona Heights--which came about when Queen Kaahumanu Highway was built and
cut off access to the Mauka part of Kona Heights.
Sincerely,
~a6rrw~
