Subject: Basil's Restaurant Application for a Sidewalk Use Permit
Mr. Khaled Mohammed has submitted an application to the Council for a permit to place tables
and chairs on the sidewalk outside of Basil's Restaurant in Kailua-Kona. Council Member
Curtis Tyler suggested that this matter may be of interest to the caretakers of the Hulihee Palace
and that we inform you about this pending matter.
On April 15, 1997, the Council Committee on Public Works and Parks discussed this application
and deferred its decision pending input from the Kailua Village Design Commission.
Attached is a copy of the application for your information. Your input on this matter would be
welcomed. If you would like copies of other communications submitted to the Council that
relate to this matter, or if you have any questions please contact committee staff person,
