SUBJECT: COUNTY CODE AMENDMENT
OUTDOOR LIGHTING
CHAPTER 14, ARTICLE 9, SECTION 14-53
The Department of Public Works, Traffic Division, requests that the Hawaii County Code
referring to outdoor lighting be amended to allow the use of alternate light sources in specific
areas of the County.
The Department of Public Works concurs with the Hilo Downtown Improvement Association's
goal to replace existing street lighting fixtures with more historical, antique-type luminaries that
will be in consonance with the ambiance of Downtown Hilo.
We ask for your review and consideration for adoption of the subject amendment. Should you
