We live adjacent to and south of the Sunstone project. We understand that Sunstone will be diverting traffic generated from its neighborhood into our neighborhood in order to use Lunapule Road as its left turn access onto Alii Drive. We oppose this abusive car-dumping scheme no matter how "temporary" It might be. Lunapule has served as a mauka makai access between Alil Drive and Walua Road for Hearty 5 decades. It is narrow and sloped with no shoulders for safe pedestrian access. As residents who live along this road, we are plagued with unrelenting traffic noise, speeding vehicles and a high probability of being hit while attempting to walk alongside vehicular traffic. Sunstone's car-dumping plan is extremely hazardous to our health and safety since it will Increase the severity of Lunapule's problems. Why has our County council representative not provided us with the details of Sunstone's impacts to our neighborhood? What does the County's traffic engineer, Casey Yanagihara, have to say about Sunstone's plans to use and abuse Lunapule? Sunstone's increased density of 200 units means that Lunapule may be impacted by 400 more cars, several times per day. This Is extremely abuslve'to our neighbofiood and we question why the council has allowed Sunstone to proceed with Its gated mentality scheme of dumping cars into our neighborhood in order to lessen the impacts to Its own neighborhood. Do not approve Sunstone's plans until K redesigns Its mauka makai road to accommodate the following: 1) Provide left turn access onto and In from Alll Drive and 2) Provide another mauka makai relief road within fts own property, which will SHARE mauka makai traffic with Lunapule Road. Your serious consideration of our concerns would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Lunapule Road Residents Comm. No. 1 t~54ar 't~ik ~ S~oiWa:~v-reS ~'a.C,Qs.e~' File No. `1 / Rei~~ Rec.
