I am sure you are aware of the medical consequences of nicotine use. Tobacco use accounts for
one-third of all cancers. It is also the number one risk factor for heart disease.
As the only cardiologist in Kona, I see illness caused by cigarette smoking on a daily basis. I
came here from California where all un blic places are smoke free, including bars. They said that
the bars would go out business if they were made smoke free. None did!
Appazently, Hawaii Island is the only Island that has not banned smoking in restaurants. Please
get this done.
