RE: Bill 36 -Tipping Fee
Dear Mr. Chung and All Committee Members,
The Proposal is before you to fficrcase the Land811 Tipping Fees. I am in favor of
increasing the Tipping Fee to pay actual costa. However. the current Proposal
increases the fee to more than the actual costs incurred by the County. The
Proposal then continues to increase the fee for four more years! Although the fee
must be increased, the current Proposal places excessive burden on the shoulders
of small businesses, to whom tht inertase will pass! Closing the Hilo Landfill and
building a new garbage facility aze necessary but should be paid for by all of us,
not~ust small business.
It is my understanding that the State has adopted a new policy with the intent of
being more considerate of Small Busiaess. County B;11 36 would seem to be in
direct opposition to the State's quest for a new image.
For these reasons, I respectfully request that you reconsider the content of Bill 36.
