RESOLUTION NO. 49 03
RESOLUTION CHANGING THE POSITION STATUS OF TWO (2) LIFEGUARD 1
(POOL) 1/2T (TEMPORARY) POSITIONS TO PERMANENT STATUS
WHEREAS, the Kona Community Aquatic Center (KCAC) is the busiest aquatic facility
with the least amount of lifeguards; and
WHEREAS, the two (2) Lifeguard I (Pool) 1/2T (Temporary) positions [position no. 4136
and 4137] are of temporary status and was meant to provide extra coverage only during the
summer months at KCAC; and
WHEREAS, in order to maintain minimum levels of coverage and to prevent pool
closures, it was necessary to extend the two summer temporary positions throughout the year;
and
WHEREAS, by converting the position status from temporary to permanent, this will
provide safer levels of service to the public at this popular facility; and
WHEREAS, there are sufficient funds available in the Department of Parks & Recreation
Aquatic Division's Regular Salaries and Wages account (010-500-5513.61-011).
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII that Position No. 4136 and 4137, Lifeguard I (Pool) 1/2T (Temporary), SR-11, be
changed to permanent status.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to the Parks &
Recreation, Finance, and Civil Service Departments.
