MAHUNA, POLICE CHIEF SUBJECT: MARIJUANA ERADICATION MISSION FOR THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY 2003 The Hawaii Police Department conducted marijuana eradication missions on February 3-5, 2003, in East Hawaii, and on February 10-11, 2003, in West Hawaii. As required by Resolution No. 46-01, reports indicating the number of plants eradicated and the number of complaints received from the public, the type of complaint and the complaint disposition are attached for East Hawaii. There were no plants recovered nor complaints received in West Hawaii. Also included is a complaint we received on February 6, 2003, which is not related to our mission. Heard a helicopter flying low over caller's property this morning but did not actually see it so caller was not able to identify it. Just wanted to let the police be aware of caller's sanctuary. Said that the Police Department needs to change their philosophy on eradication. Did not think we should be flying because of what had happened to the space shuttle over the weekend.
