RE: KAILUA VILLAGE SIGN COUNTY CODES
The undersign petition the Council to address the following two points concerning thE; sifn codes
for Kailua Village:
1) The Kailua Village Sign code does adequately support small businesses; particulazly those
businesses with off-street locations.
The current codes severoly limit the capacity of $.ailua Village small businesses to
promote their identities, goods or services, or activities. The undersign reque>t changes to
the codes which will improve our capacity to promote our businesses while continuing to
foster the `unique, unhurried atmosphere' of our Village (e.g,; increases in siza and
number of allowable signs).
2} Equity needs to be established within the Kailua Vllage Sign codes.
All small businesses should be treated fairly and equitably within our county codes.
however, real estate and construction businesses are currently exempt from the Kailua
Village sign codes. T'he undersign request either an exemption be established for all s~nal;
businessesA
j or all exemptions be deldod from the cow. ~ ~ ~ ~ ^ oA~ ~ ~
