Re: Fire Department Donation
Enclosed is a resolution accepting a monetary donation of $10,000 from the Daniel R.
Sayre Memorial Fund, c/o 65-1279 Kawaihae Road, Parker Square, Room 203,
Kamuela, Hawaii 96743. The funds will be used for the purchase of necessary
equipment for the Waiakea and Kailua rescue stations to increase the safety and
efficiency for ocean search and rescue.
Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating
an additional $3,000 to Fire's Rescue Equipment -Private account. In anticipation of
this donation, $7,000 was included in the current year's budget. Therefore, only the
remainder of $3,000 is being appropriated.

Prepare a resolution authorizing the acceptance of $10,000 from the Daniel Sayre Memorial Foundation.
Please send a letter of appreciation to the Daniel R. Sayre Memorial Fund, c/o Mr. Reed Hisamoto, Donor
Services Assistant, Hawaii Community Foundation, 65-1279 Kawaihae Road, Parker Square, Room 203,
Kamuela, HI 96743.
Prepare a complementary ordinance as follows:

B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The Daniel R. Sayre Memorial Fund has awarded a grant of $10,000 to the Hawaii County Fire
Department. The grant is to be used to purchase necessary equipment for the Waiakea and Kailua rescue
stations to increase the safety and efficiency of search and rescue operations.
Note: In anticipation of this donation, $7,000 is included in the current year fy 02-03 budget. Therefore,
the requested ordinance will appropriate the remainder.
