RESOLUTION NO. 57 03
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF TEN THOUSAND
DOLLARS ($10,000) FROM THE DANIEL R. SAYRE MEMORIAL FUND FOR
USE BY THE WAIAKEA AND KAILUA RESCUE STATIONS
WHEREAS, a grant was awarded by the Daniel R. Sayre Memorial Fund to the Hawaii
County Fire Department in the amount of Ten Thousand Dollars ($10,000); and
WHEREAS, said grant is to be used for the purchase of necessary equipment for the
Waiakea and Kailua rescue stations to increase the safety and efficiency for ocean search and
rescue; and
WHEREAS, the acceptance of this donation will increase public safety for the residents
of the County of Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Fire Department recommends the acceptance of this
donation; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12 of the Hawaii County Charter, provides that the
Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts or donations of money, securities, or other
personal property or real estate or any interest in real estate.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF
HAWAII, in accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12 of the Hawaii County Charter, the
County of Hawaii Fire Department is authorized to accept a grant of Ten Thousand Dollars
($10,000) from the Daniel R. Sayre Memorial Fund.

acknowledging this generous donation.
