Members of the Hawaii County Council:
On behalf of Na Leo Pohai, the public policy affiliate of The Outdoor Circle,
1314 S. King St., STE 306, Honolulu, Hawaii 96814, (808) 593-0300 *
FAX (808) 593-0525 *email: mailCc~outdoorcircle.or4, I would like to thank
you for the opportunity to testify in support of amending Chapter 25 (Zoning
Code) relating to Scenic Corridor Overlay Districts. This testimony was
duly adopted by the Kona Outdoor Circle Board of Directors in its February
meeting.
Kona Outdoor Circle, a branch of The Outdoor Circle, is anon-profit
organization with a mission to keep Kona clean, green, and beautiful. The
establishment of a new section for Scenic Corridor Overlay Zones within
Chapter 25 provides the Planning Department with a useful tool to more
effectively respond to regional planning needs of the County of Hawaii. The
adoption of this new section will provide a mechanism to fulfill a variety of
goals adopted within the County General Plan ranging from the
identification and preservation sites of historical and cultural importance
and areas of unique natural beauty as well as to increase recreational
opportunities for the residents and visitors within the County of Hawaii.
We ask that the County Council to adopt the Amendment to Chapter 25
relating to Scenic Corridor Overlay Districts as Ms Nancy Pisicchio has
proposed it. Coma, No
