This is a F{azard Mitigation Grant Program project which would significantly improve our capabilities to minimize property losses and enhance public salety during future disasters. The County intends to retrofit the Kaumana, Waiakea and Kailua-Kona Fire Stations and the Central Fire Station warehouse as these essential buildings are required to be in operation during and after a natural disaster such as an earthquake or hurricane. For dais project, the Federal share is $652,076 and the County share is $217,358. 'Fhe Hawaii Leeward Planning Conference has contracted the study, which has been prepared by Dr. Bruce Plasch. President, Design Analysts Hawaii, Inc. A review by independent experts concluded that the sewer line could be in danger of imminent collapse. "Phis project, to repair/rehabilitate approximately one mile of interceptor sewer which has experienced significant deterioration, will be funded by the State Rcvoh~ing Fund.
