Restore Transportation Specialist position Position is needed, however in light of current County financial condition, it may be best not to fill position until next fiscal year. 2. Create six month experiment on effects of lowering of bus fares on ridership This proposal may have merit. Any change to fare structure will require Council approval, however, and 1 will also need to discuss this matter further with the administration. 3. Allowing of advertisine on buses as source of revenue There is no State law prohibiting this, and currently, Corporation Counsel has received agency's proposal on establishing advertising rules, regulations, and rates. 4. County should display website address on buses This can be done. Currently we post other department's notices on our buses at times. 5. Consider abolishing Transportation Commission While the commission has transfetred some its investigative responsibilities to the transit agency, it still is useful as being an independent arbiter in disputes and rendering decisions on investigation results. In addition, we are currently working with the commission on enhancing the scope of their responsibilities, by Comm. Na File No. //~~h~4 Ref.
