SUBJECT: TRAFFIC CODE AMENDMENT
Huina Road - Authorize Speed Limits
We received a request to install speed limit signs along Huina Road which is
presently unregulated. A speed study consisting of trial runs was conducted
and we conclude a speed of 30 MPH for the first 0.8 mile and 25 MPH for the
remainder of Huina Road to Luhi Road is appropriate.
We request the Hawaii County Code, Chapter 24, Article 10, Section 24-255,
Schedule 3 (25 mile per hour limit) and Section 24-256, Schedule 4 (30 mile
per hour limit) under (g) Puna be amended as described in the attached draft
for an ordinance. A location map is attached.
Under separate cover, we are transmitting the proposed ordinance to the Public
Works Committee Chair for introduction.
We ask for your review and consideration for adoption of the subject
