SUBJECT: AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 21-36.1 OF THE HAWAII
COUNTY CODE 1983 (1995 EDITION), RELATING TO RECYCLED
WATER SERVICE CHARGE RATES.
At today's meeting of the Environmental Management Commission, a motion was made to
"recommend and support establishment of a fee for recycled water". It was passed unanimously.
This is a new rate, one we have never had and one that will be getting more use in the future.
The uses are basically landscaping and some dust control. The DHHL development projected to
be around the Kealakehe Wastewater Treatment Plant would also be a potential customer. Right
now there are few customers for recycled water, approximately 40,00() gallons/day. There could
easily be 3-4 times that usage in a few years.
We ask for your consideration and support for adding the recycled water charge. Should you
