I am writing in Strong a~~ppc~t c* the proposed re5oiut~on oppos'nq the preemptive
military action o~ the Unitea States against the country of i^aa. I, along with
millions of other, have f:~und nc ju5tlfscation for thls conflict. wave found it
appalling that tre curren* ~~5 adm~ri~tration has gone ahead with thl5 inva5lon.
de5n~ro unprecedentea ,p~csition both in the U5 and globe commun'tie5. ~ err
embarrassed about rhF un lateral ano~ bullying approach that the current
administration ^as used to ae.a'~ wits this political conflict, and am deeply
saddened that the U5 rae chosen to resort "o war, rather Than work morn, cln5ely
with the Jnited tiat`on~. ~tiow ~ a~ ~c fear that the chance for ~str~but.:on against
the 'Jnited states, its citize7r~; and interests has only been '^eightened. Hawa~'i,
through its currently unfortunate association with the United 5tate5, anA its
di5proportionateiy urge m ~ ~ar~,~ nG atr.al complex, has also been put at greater
risk. Hawaii must eerv~ a5 a g.~dc for the United 5tate5, as well a5 other parts
of the world. a5 a place o` to~~erance, understanding, and peace.
