Rloha Chairman Elarionoff and Committee Members:
' i want to thank Mr. Jacobson for introducing Resolution No. 56-83,
opposing US preemptive military action against Iraq. And urge you
to support it and ensure that it pass through the Committee and
the Council meetings.
No one individual, county, state, or nation, escapes war
unwounded. It is just a matter of how visible and deep the wound
and how and if it ever heals. War no longer is a viable method of
resolving conflicts; with the nuclear age, there is too much at
stake.
Since we, as a County, promote nonviolence among our young, and
promote peaceful resolution of conflicts through ancient native
traditions, and other methods of peaceful conflict resolution, it
falls on your shoulders to show the citizens that you believe in that
concept. It is time to figure out how to effectively use the United
Nations and other groups to bring all nations of the world to the
table for dialogue; using words not bombs.
Please support this Resolution and support our troops by being a
voice to encourage the US to cease military operations in Iraq, in
consultation with the UN and our allies, and to pursue a peaceful
and equitable solution under the auspices of the United Nations.
Sincerely yours,
Marjorie Erway
