Re: Acceptance of Donations
In accordance with (1) Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter, which authorizes
the Council, on behalf of the County, to accept gifts or donations of personal property, and with
(2) Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162 (c), of the Hawaii County Code, which states that any
donation or gift which does not fall within the capitalization procedures of the department of finance
shall be submitted to the council by letter for its approval, we request the Council's approval of the
following donations:
Ten (10) gallons of waterborne paint (total estimated value of $180.00) to the Department of
Parks & Recreation, for the repainting of the blue line and gutters at NAS Pool, by Mr. Alan
Martins, 2229 Ainakahele Street, Hilo, Hawaii 96720.
A $25.00 monetary donation to the Department of Parks & Recreation, for educational
programs at the Pana`ewa Rainforest Zoo, by the Kamehameha Schools - Hamakua
Preschool, Ms. Margaret Johnson, P.O. Box 362, Pa`auilo, Hawaii 96776.
A $30.00 monetary donation to the Department of Parks &'Recreation, for the purchase of
supplies for the Aquatics Division's American Red Cross classes to the community, by
Wal-Mart Hilo, Ms. Laura Costa, 325 E. Maka`ala Street, Hilo, Hawaii 96720.
We ask that a letter of appreciation be sent to the donors.
