56k Frame Relay Connection Between the Kona Office & Data Systems/Clerks Network
This is to transmit a resolution transferring $2,4(10 from the Clerk-C'ouncil's Miscellaneous Contractual
Services Account (Sister Cite) to the Clerk-Council"s-'Telephone Account for the purpose of fLnding the
installation of a 56k Franre Rela} connection between the Kona Office an Data Systems/Clerks Network
in Hilo.
The Kona Council Ottice currently accesses the County's intranet system by telephone diaLup, which is
slow, inefficient, and inconvenient. Large tiles sent over the County intranet take a long time to
download and ties up the fay line.
With assistance from Data Systems Department, it was determined that, in our current location, a 56k
f}ame relay connection would best fit our ofticc needs. The following quote is used to base the transfer
amount:
Hardware: Delivery and setup of hardware $I,R37.92
Circuit Costs: One time setup cost: $ 360.98
Suhtotal for FY2002-2003 $2,19890
Monthly re-occurring cost n, $98.00 x 2 months ~ _ 196.00
fOTAI, Tor FY2002-2003 $2,394.90
The Clerk-Council budget for FY2003-2004 has been revised by $ I?00 to cover the monthly payments.

Pursuant to Section I (g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of
Hawaii, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be
waived from the Committee on Finance to the full Council for immediate action. ]n reviewing
this matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that approval is granted and
the matter placed onto the next Council agenda for review. However, in the event this request is
denied, for whatever reason, I understand the matter shall he referred to the Committee on
Finance for placement on its future agenda.
