Chairman and Members
Hawaii County Council Apri127, 2003
25 Aupuni Street
Hilo, Hawaii 96720
Ref: Marked police cars versus subsidized vehicles
Aloha:
We have revised the figures previously submitted in respect of our report: "The price
of Visibility^-Part Two, and this is attached. We have also attempted to make
the figure break down and costs involved complete in detail.
During our Board meeting held on Apri125, 2003, which unfortunately Councilman
Joseph Reynolds could not attend the group discussed questions which may be asked
in opposition to the change. As a result we will obtain figures covering "Special
Service" vehicles, Ford Expedition and Ford Explorer.
Questions were also raised regarding liability insurance and it was felt by the former
police officers on our Board there may be a possibility of a slightly lower figure.
Please advise us of the present figures for liability at present and we will research this.
Please note that Mr. John Kaluna and Mr Eddie Akana of the Department of Safety
have now been appointed to the West Hawaii Crime Stoppers Board of Directors.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if there are further questions.
Sincerely,
WEST HAWAII~CRIM~E
