Dear Chairman Arakaki and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to inform you that I have appointed Mr. Lawrence A. Scadden of
Council District 7 to the Mayor's Committee on People with Disabilities.
Mr. Scadden is a 9-month resident of Hawaii and is retired from the National
Science Foundation as a Senior Program Director for the Program for Persons
with Disabilities. He serves as the chair for the Ministry on Disability with
St. Michael's Parish. He has served as the vice chair of the Columbia
Lighthouse for the Blind, Washington, D.C.; Executive Board member of the San
Francisco Lighthouse for the Blind; and past program committee member of the
American Foundation for the Blind. Mr. Scadden states that he is not affiliated
with any political party. He will replace Mr. James Beimborn, who resigned.
Mr. Scadden will serve a term co-terminus with my own.
