Dr. Holschuh:
I am extremely OPPOSED to the Smoking Ban Bill. I do not believe it is the
County Government's kuleana to tinker with societal behavior modifications.
Please, focus your energy on productive governance beneficial to the whole
of our county instead of getting caught up in societal issues that pit
constituents against each other.
I am a smoker, and already go to considerable lengths to avoid inflicting my
second-hand smoke on non-smokers. I have no intention of stopping smoking
and resent government enaction ofdifficult-to-enforce laws to get me to
stop. When you figure out a way to stop drunk drivers from impacting others
on the roadways, abusive parents from "disciplining" children in public,
loud cell-phone users from inflicting their inane conversations on
passers-by, and boom box devotees from doing the same, only then do I think
you might turn to trying to enforce unenforceable laws governing behavior in
public.
As your constituent, and a registered voter, please log my complete
OPPOSITION to the Smoking Ban Bill.
If I wanted California-style representation, I'd go live in California! One
of the reasons I live in a rural area is because we have less interference
from government in matters of personal choice.
