Holschuh, MD & Committee Members Human Services 8~ Economic Development Committee Wawaii County Council 25 Aupuni St. Hilo, HI 96720 My name is Valerie Takata and I strongly support Bill 260 which relates to smoke firee indoor workplace. I support this bill because it fosters a healthy and safe environr:lent free of contaminants and pollutants. AS part of health education, it is critical for people to realize the dangers of smoking. In addition, it is important for people to unders :artid the effects and affects secondary smoke has on people within a confined area. Statisticaly, many of the people of Hawaii are suffering from respiratory disease u~~ as asthma, and other health related diseases such as cancer. Let us not add tc ttu'Is problem in our island paradise. let us make a positive drfference and support h,:alth education by setting standards for a healthy and clean environmentt. I humbly ask that the County Council really consider and support passing of Bill 26G.
