Residential Credit Breakdown
The following information is a breakdown of the residential rubbish amounts as
formulated by D & D Rubbish Service, and the amount of tipping fees that accumulate
due to the weight of the rubbish taken to the East Hawaii Landfill.
This company allows each customer a four bag per week limit of rubbish
collected. Each bag weighs approximately 30 lbs. At 4 bags a week, it is estimated that
1201bs. per household per week is accumulated. Multiply that number by 52 weeks and
you get 6,240 lbs. per year or 3.12 tons. Multiply 3. ] 2 tons by $35.00 dollars and you get
$109.10 total cost per year per residence. Divide that total by 12 months and you get
$9.10 per month cost for the independent haulers. With the present $2.00 per residence
credit, there is still a $7.10 per customer cost being carried by the independent haulers.
In the graph below shows the amount of residential credit needed to eliminate a
tipping fee charge for residential customers. The graph also indicates the necessary
increases in residential credit needed as the tipping fee increases.
