Dear Curt,
We have taken a look at Section 19-59 regarding Native forest dedications,
and I have spoken to Wes Takai for clarity.
It resolves the vld problem and makes forestry dedications "run with the
land", and yet for people who have just S acres, like my in-laws who have
been in the Forest Stewardship Program and have dedicated to forestry, it
might disallow them as the current reading in (b) (l) A states:
...which is covered with at least five intact and contiguous acres of native
forest * is eligible for dedication...
We propose inserting at the * "excepting a homesite of up to X/4 acre:'
Additionally, in the current ordinance, 20 acre parcels that have been
subdivided into 5 acre parcels have already committed the new owners to
keep their forestry agreements for the purpose of watershed and ecosystem.
This insertion would be fair and appropriate to the commitment that these
members of our community already have.
Would you please make this insertion which we believe will be beneficial to
the forest and to our community.
