Re: Operating Budget
The State Department of Transportation Public Affairs -Safe Communities Program is
providing an additional funding of $45,300 to the Hawaii County Police Department for
its Occupant Protection Program. The funds will be used to conduct seatbelt roadblocks
and to purchase 20 tint meters. Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the
Operating Budget by appropriating the additional funds into the Occupant Protection
Program account and bringing the total grant appropriation to $103,300.
In order to expedite the purchase of the tint meters by end of this fiscal year, the
Police Department would like to request a waiver from the Finance committee and
have this bill heard at the Council meeting scheduled for June 4, 2003.
If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call the Police Department.
