In connection with the proposed highway project, the State of Hawaii requires portions of your
properties situated at Kulaimano and Pepeckeo, South Hilo, County of Hawaii, State of Hawaii.
Section 264-2, Hawaii Revised Statutes, provides for the transfer of County roads to the State
when required for highway purposes. Accordingly we request the transfer of portions of
Kulaimano Homestead Road, identified as parcel ] (Rev. 1), containing an area of approximately
1,600 square feet and Parcel 4 (Rev. 1), containing an area of approximately 1,200 square feat,
shown outlined w sed uu ttse attached Right-of--Way map.
Additionally, in order that the project may proceed without delay, we request inuucdiate ribhls Df
entry and possession of Parcels 1 (Rev. 1) and 4 (Rev. 1), pending We execution of the Quitclaim
Deed conveying the parcels to the State. If there are nn objections To our request, please sign,
date and return to us the Consent portion of the duplicate copy of this letter within thirty (30)
days of receipt of this letter.
{n the meantime, we will prepare the Quitclaim Decd and any other required documents.'~-

'fhe highway project consists of widening the Hawaii Belt Road - Kulaitrtano Road Intersection;
providing left-Cum lanes for traffic turning in to North and South Kulaimana Road; installation of
additional street lights and provision of adequate sight distance for vehicles cxiiing Nurth
Kulaimano Road. The current estimate for construction start date is January 2004.
