MAHUNA, POLICE CHIEF SUBJECT : MARIJUANA ERADICATION MISSION FOR THE MONTH OF MAY 2003 The Hawaii Police Department conducted a marijuana eradication mission on May 5-7, 2003, in East Hawaii. As required by Resolution No. 46-01, reports indicating the number of plants eradicated and the number of complaints received from the public, the type of complaint and the complaint disposition are attached. Uo'e N HAWAII POLICE DEPARTMENT COUNTER CANNABIS FIELD OPERATION REPORT TO COUNTY COUNCIL OF COMPLAINT RECEIVED CCFO No.: 2003-10 Complaint No.: 1 Date/Time Reported: 05-05-03/1330 Date/Time Occurred: OS-05-03!1320 Location: Lehua Road, Fern Acres, Mt. View, HI. Complaint: Helicopter flying low across the street from his residence in Fern Acres. Caller said that every marijuana mission the helicopters return to the same area and pull plants. Color of Helicopter: Light colored Tail No.: Unknown Letters "HPD" Visible: Yes Ox No0 Call Received By: A/Lt. Marshall KANEHAILUA #24 Complainant Recontacted By: A/Lt. Ma. ICANEHAILUA #24 DatelTime: 05-05-03/1340 Reason for Being in Area: Spotter said he could not avoid the marijuana patch because it was too large. Time in Area: 20 minutes No. of Plants Recovered: 2,253 MJ PLANTS Immediate Action Taken: Helicopter left area while I was on the phone with the caller. Caller was satisfied Helicopter left the area. Comments: Aerial spotter said that marijuana patch contained more seedlings that were guarded by dogs that officers could not get to. A total of 2,253 marijuana plants were removed but another estimated 500 or more seedlings were left behind due to noise complaint. We will try to go back and remove the remainder. Officers went back on 05-0/6 03, seedling were moved. Submitted By: A/Lt.
